During the August PMICAC Meeting, David Mantica from Soft Ed US presented the chapter with the topic " document Business Analysis/Analyst (BA): Is it a Role or is it a Skill (1.06 MB) ". He covered the current trends in the software development industry and where BA is seen as skill and were it is being built out as a role. He also provided a look at the pros and cons of each view and where things may end up, providing you critical information as you plan your career growth goals for 2020 and beyond.

Next offering: The spring, 2017, UAB - PMI of Central Alabama Chapter Project Management Certificate Course is to start Saturday, January 21, 2016, and run for five consecutive Saturdays, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and end on February 18th.

Recognizing the need for those managing projects to be trained and certified in the Project Management Institute Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®), the UAB Collat School of Business and the Project Management Institute (PMI), Central Alabama Chapter, have teamed together to offer the Project Management Certificate Course. This course meets the education requirements needed to sit for the CAPM and PMP exams.

In today’s competitive world the effective execution of value-adding business processes and related projects is imperative. The UAB Project Management Certificate Course’s approach provides the content and rigor of a graduate level academic course and practicality provided by practicing project managers.

This popular course has been a long standing offering by the UAB Department of Management, Information Systems and Quantitative Methods and is now offered several times a year. The Project Management Certificate Course provides a total of 36 contact hours of combined face to face and online instruction.

2018 Offerings: May 4th - May 25th (four Fridays), 9 am - 3 pm & September 14th - October 5th (four Fridays), 9 am - 3 pm.

The Project Management Institute Central Alabama Chapter (PMICAC) is seeking outstanding professionals to present at the PMICAC 2016 Symposium, “Avoiding Project Horror Stories” on May 13, 2016 at Embassy Suites Hoover, Alabama.

This is an annual symposium that attracts 150+ project management professionals from Alabama and surrounding states, attending a full day workshop. Many of the attendees hold influential Project and Program Management positions within Information Technology, Financial, Consulting, Educational, Engineering and other corporations.
